Before you start looking for a casting agent or then an audition, it would be a good idea to hone the skills of your kid. No doubt your kids may be very talented but everyone requires a little bit of grooming and the final touches before they are in front of the camera. The casting agents look for things like acting classes, print work, voice coaching, commercial work, dance, or then children's theatre in the resumes. Instead of just a good looker, get your kid trained on becoming an all rounder. This will greatly enhance the chances of your kid getting the part that s/he really wants.

The main job of the casting agents is referring people with lots of talent and potential. After all, that's how they make their living by taking home a certain percentage of the money that will be paid to the kid who is successful in acquiring the part. In all of this, you can not afford to get carried away. You need to remember that this is what your kid wants as well. This is a very pressurizing and competitive job. Your kid may lose confidence along the way. You need to keep in mind that instead of forcing your child to give an audition that s/he is not very confident of; you can probably just talk to him/her and try and work a way around.

You must definitely be aware that a career in acting is a well-paid job. In fact, a very well-paid job, which comes with its ups and downs. On one side there is fame, fortune and glamour and on the other side are the invasion in privacy and several sacrifices. Your kid should be prepared to cope with any failures as well.
